    We are currently seeking an Epidemiologist to serve as the Deputy Project Director for a large contract that supports research conducted by the Epidemiology Branch of the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences.  The research focuses on the role of genes and the environment on a wide variety of chronic disease outcomes.  The Deputy will manage research staff and oversee financial, contractual, and administrative activities.  The Deputy may also lead projects sponsored by the NIEHS or other federal clients.  This position offers many opportunities for leadership, innovation, collaboration, and publication.

     

    Responsibilities


    • Hire, train, and retain high performing project staff across a variety of disciplines
    • Collaborate with other contract project directors to allocate staffing resources across projects
    • Lead research teams in developing technical proposals, schedules, and budgets for new projects
    • Lead individual projects or serve as a functional area lead on large projects
    • Provide day-to-day support to the research teams to enhance technical approaches
    • Review requests for subcontracts and related budgets
    • Participate in the development of scientific manuscripts and presentations
    • Conduct monthly project reviews to monitor project performance, progress, and spending
    • Oversee the development of monthly and annual progress reports
    • Assist in identification of new business opportunities and support proposal development

    Qualifications

    Master’s or Doctorate degree in epidemiology or a closely related field
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the design, conduct, and analysis of epidemiologic studies
    • Experience managing multiple research activities simultaneously
    • Experience training and managing research staff
    • Experience managing contractual and financial activities for federal contracts or grants aspects
    • Excellent verbal and written communication.
    • Experience in both domestic and international studies is desirable
