    The Research Assistant I is responsible for the day-to-day office functioning by handling a variety of general administrative duties including providing word processing and other document support, for a variety of projects.


    • Organizes, edits, produces and disseminates documents and materials drawn from single or multiple sources, monitoring standards for quality and timeliness;
    • Provide word processing support, producing and formatting charts, tables, graphs, protocol documents and a variety of other files; create or edit documents from handwritten and electronic copies;
    • Prepares memoranda and letters for the supported staff.  Assists in preparing proposals, reports and findings associated with assigned projects;
    • Establishes and maintains filing system for project documents, records and general correspondence;
    • Establishes and maintains organizational files, records, data systems, and periodicals;
    • Maintain management information system (MIS) for projects as directed, entering data as well as pulling reports as needed;
    • Maintains equipment inventory, controls inventory sign-out log, and maintains equipment reservations, as required;
    • Assist in planning and organizing meetings and events, prepares minutes as requested;
    • Coordinate recurring meetings for project staff and/or external clients;
    • Coordinate teleconferences, video conferences, web meetings, face-to-face, and luncheons varying in size, frequency, venue, audience etc.;
    • Maintain project and/or group organizational charts;
    • Serve as the point-of-contact for queries and telephone inquiries for the group;
    • Provide general administrative support; and

    • Perform other duties as assigned including management of group VP and /or Center Director calendars


    Education and Experience

    • High School completion and 1 year of related experience.
    • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university is preferred.
    • Four years of administrative experience in the scientific or health-related arena preferred.


    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    • Excellent communication skills
    • Excellent organization skills
    • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications including MS Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint, MS Projects a plus.
