    To provide advanced professional skills in the leadership of team members and work within a self-directed/empowered team environment. Provide expert-level knowledge/skill for various diagnoses/conditions.

    Responsibilities

    • Completes any necessary NIH or SSS online training or security awareness.
    • Analyzes records for completeness and accuracy.
    • Recognizes the various formats of records and where to find appropriate information related to study.
    • Accurately abstracts medical records within the specified time frame.
    • Meets productivity standards and stays under projected error rate per project.
    • Ability to recognize discrepancies within a medical record and report such changes. 
    • Able to complete abrupt study deadlines that relate to medical record information.
    • Assists health information manager and other study staff with research of specific medical conditions or diseases.
    • Able to work on various medical records for multiple studies.
    • Strong research, investigative, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
    • Ability to synthesize information and concisely communicate, either verbally or in writing, findings and recommendations.
    • Provides health and medical data for medical conditions or diseases.
    • Completes and distributes correspondence to appropriate departments.
    • Responsible for quality control for various studies.

    Qualifications

    Bachelors degree in related field or 3-5 years equivalent experience in related field. Experience with Word and Excel, excellent organizational skills, ability to work independently as well as in a team. Excellent comprehension skills. Medical coding, health information certification(s) or medical licensure required (e.g. LPN, RN, CPC, CCS, CTR, RHIA, RHIT).
