Responsibilities

  • Manages, advises on, preserves, and analyzes the storage and use of diagnostic and therapeutic medical records
  • Checks all documentation for accuracy and completeness of information; queries medical staff to clarify ambiguous, conflicting, or incomplete documentation
  • Performs routine coding of information supplied by physicians and translated according to comprehensive reference guidelines;
  • Inventories medical records, provide a hard and electronic copy of the completed inventory to respective records custodian
  • Develops or maintain File Plan and files records accordingly (electronic and hard copy)
  • Develops medical records policies and procedures and provides advice on the use of medical records.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and two years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience with medical records analysis and evaluation of the adequacy of a medical records program preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge and understanding of recognized reference standards, medical and legal requirements, and regulatory and accrediting agency requirements to perform medical records analysis and evaluate the adequacy of a medical records program;
  • Knowledge of automated medical records systems, requirements of the Privacy and Freedom of Information Acts
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills; excellent interpersonal and client management skills
  • Strong working knowledge of GCPs, ICH guidelines, FDA and/or EU guidelines
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Proficiency in all MS-Office applications including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, MS Projects a plus.
  • Must possess a professional and customer service oriented demeanor
  • Experience working in matrix environments; ability to work well in a team environment
