SSS is seeking a Research Associate to provide research assistance for all stages of health policy research projects, including research design, data collection, analysis, and dissemintation activities.  Works on a variety of projects for both federal and non-federal clients. 


Provides research assistance, which may include the following:

  1. Performs literature searches/reviews, and gathers topical research information as directed, including summarizing methods and results found in the literature.
  2. Interprets, synthesizes and summarizes health care/policy literature and related data and statistics into usable and actionable tables, graphs, and other formats.
  3. Attends and participates in meetings, conferences, and stakeholders meetings related to research areas.
  4. Supports logistics associated with projects or proposals
  5. Provides research assistance, which may include interpreting and describing analytical results, developing abstracts, organizing data for presentations, and developing the research design of evaluation, policy analysis and data management plans.
  6. Supports senior researchers in conducting data analysis; uses statistical software (e.g. SAS, R) to produce basic statistics, data frequencies and cross-tabulations, and conducts statistical tests.
  7. Supports senior researchers in data collection, including assisting in survey, questionnaire, and focus group guide development as well as providing support for conducting and organizing structured and semi-structured interviews and focus groups with research participants.
  8. Contributes to drafts and edits project reports, policy briefs, case studies, and manuscripts
  9. Supports senior researchers and business development specialists in preparation and assembling health policy proposals.
  10. Performs additional duties as required


Level of position will depend on years of education and experience. Bachelor’s degree. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and specified software. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong analytic and organizational skills. Experience working with Medicare and Medicaid data preferred. Experience creating graphs and data visualization software is a plus. Experience with SAS, Stata, or R preferred.
